Behind on a return? Let's get you current.
We prepare and file prior-year 1120S and 1040 returns, using e-filing whenever the IRS still accepts them and paper filing when required. Our team makes filing prior year tax returns straightforward by handling the preparation and submission process while ensuring your return is completed accurately and according to applicable filing requirements.
What this covers.
If you have an unfiled S-Corp or individual return from a previous year, we prepare it the same way we do a current one: drafted in Drake®, reviewed twice, delivered through SmartVault.
The IRS allows electronic filing for a limited window of prior years and requires paper for anything older. We'll tell you which applies to your year and handle the filing either way.
Books first, if needed.
A prior-year return usually needs the books to match. If yours don't exist or don't hold up, our accounting catch-up service rebuilds them from your statements first, so the return is defensible. We'll flag this during intake and quote it before starting.
Why filing late still beats not filing.
The longer a tax return remains unfiled, the more late-filing penalties can add up, often making them more costly than penalties for paying late. Filing prior year tax returns can help you get current and stop additional penalties from accumulating.
If you're due a refund, there's also a limited window to claim it. Leaving an older return unfiled could mean losing money that was rightfully yours.
How it's priced.
Quoted per return, based on the year and whether catch-up bookkeeping is needed. You approve before we begin.
Need more time before the year is up?
If you're still on a current return but won't make the deadline, an extension is the right move — it moves the filing date without late-filing penalties.
Pick your form.
We'll take it from there.
Two forms, two deadlines, one workflow. Tell us which return you're filing and we'll send the SmartVault link and document checklist within the hour.
