Authorized IRS e-File Provider

IRS e-File Disclosure.

Strategic Accounting Solutions is an Authorized IRS e-File Provider, approved to transmit your return electronically once you've reviewed and signed it. This page explains what that authorization covers, what we retain on file, and what choices remain yours as the taxpayer.

What e-file authorization means.

As your Electronic Return Originator (ERO), we prepare your return, walk you through a draft in SmartVault, and transmit it directly to the IRS once you approve it. Authorization to e-file is limited in scope: it lets us submit a return you've already reviewed and signed off on. It does not give us power of attorney to represent you before the IRS, authority to redirect your refund, or the ability to make filing decisions on your behalf. Every return moves only after you approve it in writing.

Your signature and our records.

Before we transmit anything, you sign Form 8879, IRS e-File Signature Authorization, electronically in SmartVault. That signed form is our record that you reviewed the return and approved it before it left our office. Per IRS Publication 4557 safeguarding standards, we retain your signed 8879 for three years past the return's due date or the date it was filed, whichever is later, and every access to your file is logged.

Paper filing is still your choice.

E-filing isn't mandatory for you as a taxpayer, even though it's our default workflow. If you'd rather file on paper, tell your preparer before we begin preparing your return. Paper returns follow a different timeline than our standard 72-hour turnaround, and they're processed by the IRS separately from e-filed submissions, so refund and confirmation timing will differ.

Questions before we transmit.

If anything about your authorization, filing status, or what's recorded on your account is unclear, raise it before we file — not after. You can reach a preparer directly, and we're glad to walk through your specific return on a short call before anything is transmitted.

What if I don't sign Form 8879?

We don't transmit. A return sitting in SmartVault without a signed 8879 is not filed, regardless of how close the deadline is. If a signature is missing near March 15 or April 15, we'll flag it and, where eligible, file a short extension so the unsigned return doesn't become a late one.
